Mariachi Pub Crawl 2012

So, one November in 2011 I thought some friends and I could turn a regular Friday night in Antigua, Guatemala, which given, are awesome and never feel regular, more awesome by having a Mariachi band follow us around town. That night was incredible, even the point where the Mariachi band was hunting me down and threatening me.

I’m just back to the USA after a two-week visit back down to my home in Guatemala town. I think I could point to any day from the visit and call it a highlight, but there was only one night that came complete with a Mariachi.

Early on in my trip while clanking gallo beers with some friends we decided to do a redux of the Mariachi Pub Crawl. Not just a redux, but to do one every year, making the Mariachi Pub Crawl a staple in our loose-leaf lives much like Dan and Andrés’ annual Battle of The Cascarones.

Anyway, below are the photos from the second annual Antigua Mariachi Pub crawl. Herding drunk people is like, well, herding drunk people, so we didn’t make it too far, but our route of The Terrace – Reillys – El Coyoto Rojo – Dan’s House was enough fill the night with tomorrow’s hang-over. Muchas gracias to Ms. Katherine Martin whose “adult” pinata filled with goodies your Sunday school teacher would have taken away from you.

I’d love to give photo credit where it’s due, but all I can say is I didn’t take any of these. My camera was passed from sweaty hand to sweaty hand. I think most of the really good ones are from Ana, Gavin or Aram (check out Aram’s stuff at Nomadic Mirrors)
