I’m at the airport right now, waiting for a plane to whisk me away into a New Year. But before we roll over into 2013, I wanted to share with you the encouraging results of the Third World Saving Project that I did with the help of The Integral Heart Foundation who ran logistics and project management. Thanks also to the project generous donors (Gracias, Nicolette, Patti, Jennifer, and Michelle!).
In Italics is an email I received last week from Reinhard Prosch from The Integral Heart Foundation who directed this project.
Before I go on vacation, let me wrap up our first trial run of Third World Savings Project for you.
- We had ten members altogether when we first started out, by the time of last Monday’s six of them remained to check back with their deposit receipts.
- 4 out of ten have made all required deposits (total number here is 1 initial deposit to open the account, plus 6 savings deposit = 7 total deposits), and have thus received their Q300 bonus already (Maria; Juan; Miguel García; Marisol ) [Last names omitted by me for privacy reasons]
- Another four have made at least 5 deposits (Jose ; Pastor ; Angela; Lizeth)
- Only two have not made another deposit after opening the account (Esli , Ana Luisa)
Weighing this against our initial assumption (“50% of participating families making savings deposits at least twice a month”), I conclude that we almost lived up to what was “an ambitious goal” and so dare to call this trial run pretty successful.
